End-of-Year Request Event!

Greetings, friends and neighbors! I think it's time for free art requests, to usher out the old year and kick off 2012! I listened to your poll responses, and I've been watching other events by people like [info]djinni for ideas. This time around I am offering free little drawings, with two optional themes--your character/request as a domesticated cat, or as a monster!

Here are a few samples to give a sense of what my art is like--the requests won't be EXACTLY like this, scalewise, but these are fairly good approximations: here, here, or here.

Also, this time around I'm putting up a tip jar, partly to test the waters but partly also because the next few months are going to be tight and a few extra bucks would not hurt. But please, do not feel any pressure to tip, or reluctance to request if you don't tip! I will be doing requests even if no one tips at all, just because REQUESTS ARE THE BEST.

THE RULES
please read all of these carefully! Failure to follow some of these rules may result in not getting your request. :(

You may request a drawing of one subject/character. Some kind of more general prompt is okay too, as long as it doesn't involve multiple figures--these are going to be fairly small pieces. I will draw people, monsters, robots, animals, whatever! Some things I'm better at than others, but I am willing to try anything. Here's a list of what you need:

  1. A link to a reference and/or a brief-but-clear description of what you'd like (including expression/mood/theme, if you have any in mind).

  2. Whether you'd like your request within one of the themes.

  3. Whether you donated (please include your Paypal address).


Keep it clean! Please don't request anything involving profane or obscene speech, sexual content, graphic violence, or illegal substance use. Also please don't link to reference images that contain any of the above-mentioned (that includes explicitly nude references). The aim of this event is family friendly fun. If your request violates these guidelines I will screen your comment and ask you to re-request in accordance with the rules.

No fanart. Please don't request characters that don't belong to you, creatures from video games that aren't yours--basically anything that's not clearly yours and that might be legally dubious for me to make money off drawing. If your request violates these guidelines I will comment asking you to come up with a new, rule-abiding request. If you're not sure, feel free to ask first.

If you fail to rework your request to abide by the content or fanart rules, you will not get anything.

I will make icons for as many people as I can. I don't know exactly when I'm going to cut this off--it depends on how high tips go and how many requests I get. I'm shooting for closing requests sometime Jan 1, but it might go shorter/longer. I'll leave a comment and mark this post clearly when I decide to cut off, and requests after that point will not be honored. Tippers before the cutoff are guaranteed a drawing, but unless tips reach a certain point I can't guarantee I'll get to all the non-tippers--I'll do as many as I can. The baseline is ink drawings for non-tippers, simple greyscale for tippers. This may change depending on how many tips I get.

Tip Incentives:
$20 - I will randomly select one person to get a simply colored drawing. Met!
$40 - Everyone gets a drawing, and I will randomly select three people to get simply colored drawings. Met!
$60 - Greyscale drawings for non-tippers, and simple color for tippers! Met!
$100 - Simply colored drawings for everyone! Met!
$200 - Tippers get a second request!

If tips go over that (which I seriously doubt) I will consider other incentives.

My Paypal addy is bootheeling (a) gmail (dot) com, but I'm surprised the link isn't working! D: I've tested it several times. Hrm... wait, were you opening in a new tab/window? I notice that if you do that it takes you to PayPal's homepage, but if you just click the link it seems to take you to the right page. I'm not sure why.

She's never been artistically depicted before, think you could do her justice? I can sort of envision a wide-lens sort of perspective, as though she's laying on your chest to knead and purr in your face.

If you feel silly about it, you could turn her into a cuddly, purring monster :D

I would like an illustration of my Torn World character Rai holding a young skycat, peach tabby if you're using color. For the purposes of this picture, Rai is 16 years old.

Rai is elegant, with fair skin that sunburns easily. He has a narrow face, a little wider at the cheekbones, with a strong jaw tapering to a pointed chin. A long straight nose runs down toward a full mouth. He is more beautiful than handsome. His hands are delicate and nimble with long fingers. Rai has blue eyes and bright golden blond hair that's very fine and soft in texture, wavy to curly, with a fluffy and unruly body. He is tall and slim. He typically dresses in solid colors such as blue, tan, or gray with a bit of textured trim at the edges.

A skycat is like a cross between a housecat and a flying squirrel: "These descendants of the common housecat have skin and muscle extending between their forelegs and hind legs, giving them a substantial ability to glide. There are some other minor muscular and skeletal changes that enhance the cats' ability to climb and to securely grab tree limbs. The cats are, on average, about three-fourths the size of regular housecats, although their claws are a bit longer. A significant percentage, more than one-third, are polydactyl."

I would like a picture of Evangaline, please. (She is an original character from my Aunt Family series

She is the grand-niece of the character in this icon - http://www.dreamwidth.org/userpic/998561/688046 - and has a similar face shape, although her hair is a darker red. (about this color - http://www.auburnhaircolor.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/dark-auburn-hair-color-wr.jpg )

Well I was going to ask for a Beholder in a party hat, but that would break the no fan-art rule.

Instead I'd like to ask for you to take a whack at drawing one of my "Adorabillian" aliens.

They look like three foot tall teddybears with short antennae that end in heart-shaped bulbs. They also have noses in the same shape; the three work together as radio recievers and to perform triangulation. They have very large cartoonish eyes with an iris in the shape of a heart, star, or flower. Their hands and feet have no fingers, instead they have a single thick heart-shaped pad of nanotech goo that they can use to grab things and interact with machinery, or walk up walls.

They're excessively cute, but in their own way they are monsters. They're a haegemonizing swarm; they try to transform all other species to be the same cutesy critters as them.

What do you think? Will you draw one for me? Pretty please, with sugar on top?
